Adulting is Hard!

Updated: Dec 6, 2025

"Bills, Responsibilities, and Surviving Without a Manual"

  • Welcome to the Chaos of Adulting

Adulting is basically a scam. One day you’re thrilled about your first paycheck, thinking you’re a fully functioning human, and the next you’re staring at your bank account like it’s a horror movie. Rent, utilities, groceries, Netflix, Spotify, phone bills—apparently, all of these things exist and none of them come with a “how-to-survive” manual.

  • The Money Struggle is Real

Managing your own money is kind of like trying to tame a wild animal. You try to budget, you try to plan, and somehow there’s always a surprise expense that sneaks up on you and eats all your leftover funds. And the emotional toll? Immeasurable. That feeling when your bank balance says £3.50 after rent and bills? Legendary trauma.

  • Small Wins Are Everything

The trick is to celebrate the little victories. Cooking pasta without burning it counts. Paying the electricity bill on time counts. Remembering to do laundry before your clothes start resembling a biology experiment counts. Every tiny win is a level up, even if it doesn’t feel glamorous.

  • Everyone’s Faking It

Fun fact: nobody actually has it all figured out. That “adult friend” on Instagram with a perfectly curated apartment? They’re panicking too. Everyone is just faking it better. The key is to realize that your messy, chaotic attempt at life is completely normal.

  • The Takeaway

Adulting is messy, confusing, and sometimes terrifying—but it’s also where growth happens. Surviving your bills, your responsibilities, and even your small failures is the real glow-up. One day, you’ll look back and realize you’ve mastered more than you thought possible—and that’s the fun part.
